Advocating for US support for NGOs promoting democracy in Poland.

The US/Poland Democracy Council serves to promote financial and other support from the US government and other US sources for Polish non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that seek to improve democracy, rule of law, judicial independence, freedom of the press, and civil and human rights and free market.

This necessitates creating friendly conditions for NGOs to operate and raise the standard of services they offer, including management expertise, communication, fund-raising, transparency, and accountability.

Position Paper

The US/Poland Democracy Council aims to help deliver necessary support to NGOs in Poland through funding, knowledge transfer, and moral support. Support must be channeled to recipients who are sufficiently vetted through routine methods usually implemented by the US institutions that are specialized in supporting foreign programs.

Council Board and Members

The US/Poland Democracy Council’s Board and Members are comprised of American and Polish former ambassadors, business executives, and civil society leaders, all of whom were participants in Poland’s successful post-communist transformation to a thriving democracy and free market.  The Council’s Members have now united for the single, common purpose of ensuring meaningful US assistance to Polish NGOs in Poland.

The Council is a non-political body and no professional politicians are involved.

Resources

The US/Poland Democracy Council aims to collect and uplift the resources that raise awareness of the efforts of advocates in Poland to maintain and promote democracy, human rights, and rule of law.
